850ltr Rescape

(1/5) > >>

Katfish:
I thought it was time I posted up some pics of my tank
The tank itself is 6x2x3 with a 4ft sump with ocean runner 3500 return pump, co2 injection via a ph controller & Tunze Diffuser, 4 x 54w t5s (home-made) 2 x 3000ltr wave makers , ATC-800+ running 3x200w heaters.
I had my tank up and running for just over 6 months as was never happy with it, the main point was the soil topped with sand as the tank was always cloudy etc.

This is how the tank looked b4 the scape but this pic was taken about a month ago and most of the Amazon swords had been eaten by baby apple snails and the substrate was a mess.

It took three days to get it to this with the help of John (Swanleyjon)
It needs more plants as I removed most of the bog wood to give myself more plating room.

These are stars of my tank 10" and 5" big

Lamzang:
Very impressive tank.

Are you planning on getting some height in there, e.g. with wood or tall plants, or are you leaving quite a vast space?

Nice plecs, no wonder you're proud of them  ;D

Katfish:
Yes I would like some tall bits of wood but all the bits I have seen are really expensive.

also I am in need of some background plants big time but hardy ones as none of my plecs eat my plants but the big royal moves like a torpedo.

Lamzang:
How about a "curtain" of giant vallis? Your plec may be able to uproot them at first but keep sticking them back in and eventually they will form a network of roots and runners.
Or you could put some pebbles/rocks around the base of a plant, which might help protect it from being uprooted.

a1matt:
+:) for vallis. Crypts, Anubias and ferns will likely also fare well.
