My Fluval Roma 240

(1/14) > >>

Lamzang:
I'd decided to change the substrate in my tank and, as you do, went shopping in Crewes Hill with mlgt and ended up with a nice piece of bogwood and lava rocks. I only wanted to re-jig things a bit, "rearrange the furniture" but mlgt kindly offered his help to do a "scape". Here is what happened yesterday:

Basics first: Tank: Fluval Roma 240, Filter: Fluval 405, temp: 25C.
Fish: 2x angels, 7x rummynoses, 4x black neons, 2x bristlenoses, 2x clown plecs, 1x ram, 4x peppered corys and 2x golden lyretail mollies (females). Plus an uncountable number of MTS.
Plants: Loads!! Giant Vallis, Echinodorus Uruguayensis, java moss, java fern, trident fern, 2 types of hygrophila, 2 types of cryptocorinii.
Tank is a low tech set-up; general fertiliser (Interpet Flora Boost) gets added about once a month at half the recommended dose.
Water changes: weekly 40 litres; once a month between 60-80 litres.

Some pics how the tank looked in the morning:

Getting the fishes' home ready (yes, it is the trusted waste bin):

Yuck!! Trying to get the fishes out of that!!!

And empty tank:

Waste bin fully connected to filter and heater; its quiet and dark:

Not sure its that clear but the glass is covered in algae (bearing in mind there are 2 bristlenoses, 2 clown plecs and, until recently, 3 SAEs, plus loads of MTS in there - what are they doing all day long???  ???)

My big thanks goes to mlgt, who after a day's work, came over to re-arrange the furniture and make it into a scape. Its not what I would have done on my own but I do love it and I am trying hard not to fill up that empty space on the right... :P

PS: Those round boulder-type rocks afre a necessity because the new piece of wood still floats. Once it stay down on its own Those rocks will be replaced with lava rock to blend in with the rest.

amazing difference, now the tank have character and is stunning. great idea, I absolutely like the effect of this day work :D good job both of you! :)
