Has anyone used this: Pettex Aquarium Gravel Speckled Sand?
(1/1)
Lamzang:
I'm thinking of changing the gravel in my tank. Don't really want to go for sand because of the potential for anaerobic pockets but, ideally, would like some very fine (1 mm or so) honey coloured gravel. Found a sample in ADC but was told it is no longer available.
Came across this product on the internet: http://www.petplanet.co.uk/product.asp?dept_id=1283&pf_id=52093
Has anyone used this before? I can't quite figure out whether this would be like very very fine gravel or could it potentially compact, like sand? Also can't quite figure out what the colouring is: white with black bits in or shades of sandy-colour...
Any feedback/comments or pointers to other suppliers would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
LondonDragon:
Have a look at the Unipac gravels, I saw most of them for the first time at the weekend, and some of them are pretty impressive.
Lamzang:
Thanks, will do!
jm_:
I use sand ie marine gravel its called Aragonite or Aragonlite (expensive thou)
Also bought so kinky black sand cost a bomb £11 for 2.5kgs was it? small bag.. i wanted dead blank its rubbish snails dont care and so on
the finer the harder to clean . !
Lamzang:
I have now settled on Unipac's "Samoa Fine Sand" (looks more like really fine gravel to me), which is just what I was after. Shall start washing it this weekend.
Also currently soaking a new piece of wood (which is a bit of a floater - hope it'll settle) and some lava rocks :D
